Professional and of high standards - United Square

    July 19, 2016 12:23:19 PM

Brought my daughter to TLL at United Square for a free proficiency test for English to determine which class is suitable for her. It took the school about a week to get back to me on the analysis and advice on which branch / class my daughter is suitable. In the end, we decided on the Sunday time slot at their United Square branch. Asked whether if the different branches are franchised but the admin told me that they are not and that the HQ controls all the materials, teachers and centres to maintain the high quality and standards throughout. The teachers there look professional and I believe the centre has some form of dress code for their teachers too to look professional. Every week, the teacher will feedback to individual student's parents which is excellent. I love the constant feedback which puts my mind at ease that my daughter is coping well there and what areas I can focus on to help her improve. The programs covers various things like public speaking, comprehension etc. There will be homework too to bring back to complete and handed in the next lesson. They will need to also borrow a book from their library section within the branch to read and review every week. The books are of age appropriate as they are categorized into different sections for the kids to select from. Overall a very comprehensive learning program that covers all areas for preparing primary school education.

The Learning Lab Junior - English

    February 23, 2016 11:15:44 AM

My daughter who is in K1 this year just attended The Learning Lab Junior English class at United Square. Some of the worksheets given was in the form of fill in the blanks i.e. key words given to complete the cloze passage. My daughter was also taught the use of using highlighter to highlight the words in the cloze passage. I thought this method was quite good to start off with at this stage as my daughter loves the idea of using colorful highlighters. These words also comes in a word bank where they describe the meaning of each word. The quality of the close passage is really good -one of them was about being a veterinarian. I feel that their method really prepares the kids for primary school education. As for the environment, its really prestige. There's a lot of spaces devoted to their students e.g. music stations, areas to chill and hang out, a library area where students are allowed to borrow the books.

Very informative and creative method of teaching

My boy enjoys The Learning Lab Junior - English classes very much . Being held in 'board room' style, classes are actually not as serious as we initially perceived to be before signing up! Although the material and worksheets used are really advanced but we find they are of good quality. We understand from the school that the intention is to cultivate the kids to be more advanced then fellow peers so that they cope better in Primary school later on, hence increasing their confidence. Classes are always fun and interactive, with appropriate material used every time. Topics are carefully selected too. The contents are usually repeated a few times to ensure kids remember them before moving on to next chapter. and we get to bring home the wonderful material for revision too . We value the worksheets very much hence repeatedly revise with my boy after lessons as we believe these material is something we cannot get off the shelves in bookstores.
