LaunchPad
LaunchPad focuses on the importance of pre-readers acquiring strong phonemic awareness, phonics competency and recognition of high frequency words (Sight Words). Focusing on phonology, LaunchPad students are taught oral and written blending, segmenting of words into individual sounds and phonics. LaunchPad develops vocabulary extension, grammatically correct sentence structuring, oral expression and speaking confidence. Students are guided through the fundamentals of presenting a picture discussion and other oral expression activities in preparation for confident public presentations. Students in LaunchPad learn to recognise frequently used English Language words (sight words) while understanding their meaning and correct use. Shared reading of entertaining, quality, picture story books engenders a love of reading in students as they listen to, and express, their opinions about stories that are read aloud to them.

My friend recommended to sign up for L Central to improve my boy's English. He has been with L Central at Jurong East branch from N2 to K2. Their weekend classes are much more expensive than their weekday classes and is around $600 per term of about 11 lessons. Their Launchpad programme is very good. My boy started out slow but catch up after this programme. It is intensive but prepares him well for P1. The teachers are a mixture of local and native teachers and they regularly provide feedback on the kids performance. They do have a free assessment where they will assess your kid and where you can talk to the teacher and learn more about their programme.
